Design Museum London

About this Museum

The Design Museum London was founded in 1989, born out of the private collection of Terence Conran, founder of the Habitat retail chain. Exhibiting objects from the turn of the 20th century to today, the museum aims to articulate the history of mass-produced and mass-consumed design.

The collection encompasses furniture, lighting, domestic appliances, communications media, and technology, with special emphasis on the key designs that define the modern world. The Design Museum presents temporary exhibitions on a variety of contemporary and historical subjects as well as retrospective presentations of important designers and architects.
