HAHA

Stockholm, Sweden

HAHA is a Swedish design brand founded in 2015 by Arash Eskafi (Creative Director and designer) and Yu-Ching Chiang (Product Development and designer). A year later, the founding duo was joined by Thomas Torninger (Business Development) and HAHA relocated from a warehouse district west of Stockholm to its current location in central Stockholm. Since then, the brand has established a reputation for unique furniture, lighting, and design objects that coalesce material form and poetry, that is “the combinations between physical shapes and their unexpected connections in order to create poetic yet distinct designs.”

HAHA produces its own in-house designs, as well as working on commissions and collaborations with partners like Monocle in the UK and Aplace in Sweden. The brand’s first self-initiated collection—Vima; a series of graphic, architectural furniture pieces, a floor lamp, and accessories—was released in 2016 to some acclaim. Indeed, the Vitra Design Museum purchased two pieces from the series for its permanent collection. The following year, Lighting Collection #1 was released, demonstrating the brand’s versatility and strong vision with standout pieces like the Nest Floor Lamp (2016) and Rainbow Pendant Lamp (2016). More recently, the Alia Candle Holder (2017)—a modular candle holder consisting of two basic forms that can be reassembled in various ways to transform the structure or create abstract assemblages—skillfully combined a refined elegance with a playful interactive aspect.

HAHA works with private clients, architects, galleries, and high-end retailers around the world. The brand has participated in Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair, ICFF in New York, and Milan Design Week, amongst others.
