Shira Keret

Shira Keret was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1984. She studied at the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2009 and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem in 2010. She is a product, graphics, and interiors designer who, since 2010, has worked both independently and as a member of the Four’n’Five design group in Jaffa Port, Tel Aviv.

Notable projects to date include the Monolith series (2013), where tableware is carved out of marble blocks using a high-pressure water jet that mimics the process of water erosion in nature; and the Paraphrase collection (2010), an elegant series of five mortars and pestles and a kitchen knife, all inspired by the designer’s own poetry.

Keret’s work has been exhibited widely. Presentations include Young Creators at Tokyo Designers Week (2013); Suspicious Objects at the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem (2013); Bezalel Academy’s Thinking Hands exhibition in Milan Design Week (2011); and the Chicago Housewares Show (2011), among others.

Keret lives and works in Tel Aviv.
