Dossofiorito

Dossofiorito is an industrial design studio established in Verona, Italy in 2012. Its founders, Livia Rossi (born in Avellino, Italy in 1980) and Gianluca Giabardo (born in Verona in 1982) met through a mutual friend at an exhibition in Milan in 2011. Outstanding among Dossofiorito’s playful projects are Lightscape (2013), a series of colorful lamps that physically interpret moments from the pair’s shared experiences; and The Phytophiler (2014), a collection of hand-thrown terracotta plant pots that incorporate magnifying glasses, mirrors, and other appendages to encourage particular interactions between man and plant. Lightscape was exhibited at Galleria Rossana Orlandi in Milan in 2013. In 2014, Phytophiler was exhibited at SaloneSatellite, Milan; Mint, London; Debeaulieu, Paris; and the 24^th Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk, Belgium.

Rossi studied fashion design at the University of Florence, earning her Bachelor’s degree in 2003. She went on to study fashion at Central Saint Martins in London for a year, ultimately expanding her focus to a wider design practice, and earning her Bachelor’s degree in design from Goldsmiths College in London in 2010. In 2011, she interned at Studio Formafantasma.

Giabardo studied industrial design at the Politecnico di Milano, earning his Bachelor’s degree in 2004 and his Master’s degree in 2007. At the same time, he earned a Master’s in European design (MEDes), studying from 2003 to 2005 at both the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste (ABK) in Stuttgart, Germany and the UIAH (now Aalto University) in Helsinki. In 2008, he interned at Epic Aircraft in Bend, Oregon, where he learned about advanced composites technology. He later obtained an MBA from the International School of Management in Paris and New York (2011). In addition to his work for Dossofiorito, Giabardo joined the Politecnico di Milano as a research fellow in 2013.
