Atelier Fornasetti

Born in 1913, Piero Fornasetti was a Milanese painter, sculptor, interior decorator, engraver, and the creator of more than 11,000 objects. Working across media, especially ceramics and textiles, he became an expert in a variety of printing techniques, and, with the help of friend and collaborator Gio Ponti, established his legendary, eponymous brand aimed at bringing art into everyday life.

Although Piero died in 1988, his son Barnaba has carried forward the tradition and the company, as well as establishing one of the largest monographic archives dedicated to a designer. In Atelier Fornasetti in Milan, artisans continue to use the same rigorous handcrafted techniques first developed by Piero. Color is applied by hand and the original paper patterns are still followed.
