Engraved Drawings

Filippo Mattarozzi is a self-taught designer. He works mainly in pencil and ink on smooth cardboard, revisiting details of engravings (and paintings) of old masters, often with references to other artists. He has exhibited in numerous private galleries in both infamous Italian art cities such as Florence, Bologna, Parma, and Forlì, and abroad in Australia and Amsterdam. On behalf of LuxInArt and Sartoni Prints, he participated in C'era una volta il libro, in Cesena; in honor of Rembrandt in Leiden, he was selected to shoot a video, which was aired on a German national television channel. His work has also been published in Graphie magazine. Filippo Mattarozzi won a portrait competition in London and was selected for the Segantini prize for drawing. The artist has also been nominated twice for the La Margherita d'argento award and was a finalist for the Ritratti Contemporanei award in Pescara. Finally, in 2020 he was selected for the Marchionni Prize and also won Venti Artisti, an exhibition in honor of Goya. Critic Enzo Dall'ara wrote an article about him. The draughtsman's works have often been mistaken for real engravings.
