About This Piece

Vintage Design

Superb spherical vase in Longwy enamel, depicting a stylized world map covering its entire surface.

The decoration is embellished with maritime scenes, animals, and geographical motifs. The overall effect is elegant, original, and highly decorative, evoking a spirit of travel and discovery.

The "Colonial Sphere" was created in 1931 by Maurice-Paul Chevalier, then artistic director of the Longwy factory. This new model was presented at the Colonial Exhibition in Paris, where it won a gold medal. It immediately became an emblematic shape of the company.
